Despite getting off to a hot start in the first half, the Hawks would fall to the Dragons of Howard Community College by a score of 6-1.
The Hawks were able to strike first on the scoreboard. Ethan Carpenter kicked a long free kick that would bounce over Howard's defense as Miles Payton was able to kick the ball into the far side of the net to score his first goal of the season. Payton's goal would make the score 1-0, seven minutes into the first half.
Unfortunately, the Hawks lead would evaporate quickly. Eight minutes after Payton scored the game's first goal, Anderson Mejia Marroquin was able to tie the game at one, with an assist from Cesar Torres in the 15th minute.
Marroquin would provide an assist on Howard's second goal of the game in the 34th minute as he found Matias Britos in front of the net, Britos scoring his first goal this season as Howard held a 2-1 advantage in the 33rd minute.
Coming out of halftime, Howard would come out strong on the offensive end, scoring their third goal three minutes into the second half off the foot of Anthony Rodriguez, as he was able to take a deflected shot and shoot the ball in the bottom right corner of the net to give Howard a 3-1 lead. Howard would score three more times after Rodriguez, as six different players scored in a 6-1 loss for the Hawks.
16 of Howard's 40 shots were put on net as their offensive firepower was too much for the Hawks. They were able to control possession of the ball on offense throughout a majority of the game, as they were able to find six of their teammates in position to score a goal.
The Hawks will look ahead to their next game when they face Allegany College at home on Friday. Faceoff is set for 4pm.
