By Zach Roll

CSM Athletics' first week of home games has been nothing short of spectacular, with both the women's soccer and volleyball teams delivering standout performances that have set a high bar for the season.

Women's Soccer: A Stunning 19-0 Victory

The women's soccer team electrified the crowd with a jaw-dropping 19-0 victory over Trinity Washington. From the first whistle, it was clear that the Lady Hawks were on a mission. Leading the charge was Sara Allwine, who delivered a phenomenal performance with six goals. Her offensive prowess was a testament to her skill and agility, leaving the opposing defense in disarray.

Abby May was also instrumental in the blowout, finding the back of the net four times with precision and power. Zoi Whitsett was a force to be reckoned with as well, adding a hat-trick to the scoreboard. Amber Jones contributed two goals, while Grace Dudley, Nora Barlow, Madi Goldsborough, and Kylie Smith each added one goal, rounding out an impressive team effort.

This match was not just about individual brilliance; it was a showcase of the team's cohesive attacking play and defensive solidity. The Lady Hawks' relentless pressure and exceptional coordination left Trinity Washington struggling to keep up. As the season progresses, this dominant performance serves as a clear message: CSM's women's soccer team is a formidable contender.

Volleyball: A Perfect Conference Opener

The excitement continued into the weekend as the CSM volleyball team made a strong statement in their conference opener. On Saturday, the Lady Hawks swept through Beaver County and Howard Community College, winning each match 3-0.

In their game against Beaver County, Leila Lafeta, Brooklyn Delane, Meghan Pullen, and Iyanna Harris each delivered four kills, showcasing their offensive firepower. Katy Swanson led the defense with 13 digs, while Caleigh Bergling and Mia Decarlo also made significant contributions with 11 and 10 digs, respectively. Their exceptional defensive efforts ensured that Beaver County had no chance to mount a comeback.

The Lady Hawks' performance against Howard Community College mirrored their earlier success, with another commanding 3-0 victory. The consistency and intensity displayed by the team reflect their readiness for the challenges ahead and their commitment to excelling in conference play.
