SOFTBALL SEASON OPENER

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Hawks Softball team is gearing up to begin their 2025 season with a three-game series in North Carolina, starting on February 28. As the team takes to the field for their opening games, they look to capitalize on a mix of experienced returners and talented newcomers.

Key Returners:

  • INF Lexi Drayer: A seasoned infielder, Drayer brings strong defensive skills and a steady bat to the lineup. Her leadership and experience will be key for the Hawks as they embark on the new season.
  • P Kayla Twigg:Twigg's strong arm and composure on the mound are vital to the team's success. She has the ability to control the game and will play a critical role in CSM's defense.
  • INF Laci Johnson: Known for her sharp fielding and quick reflexes, Johnson's presence in the infield is a valuable asset. Her consistency at the plate and on defense will be important as the Hawks aim for victory.
  • UTL Dakota Headley: A versatile player, Headley can contribute in various positions, giving CSM the flexibility to adjust its lineup as needed. Her athleticism and adaptability are crucial to the Hawks' overall performance.

New Additions:

  • Transfer Sophomore P Katelyn Tkach: A new addition to the pitching staff, Tkach brings fresh energy and a strong arm. With her experience from previous seasons, she is expected to add a major part to the pitching rotation and provide valuable innings for the Hawks.
  • Transfer Sophomore OF Meagan Chroniger: Chroniger joins the team as an outfielder with a solid skill set both at the plate and in the field. Her speed and athleticism will be essential for CSM's outfield, and she's expected to make an immediate impact both offensively and defensively.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Keith Sanderson and Assistant Coaches Phil Wiley, Steve Brown, and Sierra Sanderson, the Hawks are ready to hit the ground running. They will look to build on the foundation laid in previous seasons and push for success in 2025.
