
Hagerstown Baseball hosted a doubleheader against CCBC Essex on Saturday and then traveled to La Plata, MD on Sunday for a doubleheader against the College of Southern Maryland. Winning all four games takes the Hawks to an overall season record of 22-1 and 10-0 in Region 20 DII play.
The first game of the Saturday duo featured a combined 9 hits from the Hawks with Griffin Lowman earning 4 RBIs off of 2 hits for the Hawks. Colby Hahn got the win in relief on the mound for Hagerstown, pitching 2 innings, facing 9 batters, giving up 1 run off of 3 hits, 1 walk, a strike out and an error. In game two, the Hawks had a combined 8 hits, 1 walk and 2 stolen bases, with Ethan Shimmel and Quinn Illig hitting back-to-back home runs. Carson Casey got the save for HCC allowing no runs after facing 2 batters and walking one.
On Sunday, Hagerstown hit a combined 5 home runs over two games with Ethan Shimmel (2) and Aidan Grudzinski homering in game one and Isaac Grove and Kyle Lore in game two. HCC took the lead of game one in the third inning, scoring 3 runs, adding 4 more in the fourth and 3 in the sixth off of a combined 6 Hawk hits and 2 CSM errors. Ethan Shimmel contributed 2 runs and 7 RBIs off of 2 hits. Gene Magin went the distance on the mound allowing 4 runs off of 3 hits with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. In game two, the Hawks picked up where they left off scoring 12 runs (innings two through six) off of 14 hits and 1 error. Griffin Lowman, Isaac Grove and Quinn Illig all contibuted key hits in the win. Braden Manning faced 28 batters in 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, 2 walks and one strikeout.
Hagerstown stays on the road this week playing doubleheaders at Cecil College on Thursday (1:00 & 3:30 p.m.), Chesapeake College on Saturday (12:00 & 2:00 p.m.), and Harford cc on Sunday (1:00 & 3:30 p.m.)
