Catonsville, MD – The Cardinals had a dominant doubleheader sweep against College of Southern Maryland on Tuesday. After a 6-3 win in Game 1, The Cardinals offense exploded for a 19-3 win in Game 2.
Game 1
The Cardinals only had six hits in Game 1, but they made them count with four of them going for extra bases. Joel Tapia Melo led the way going 2-3 with a homerun and a double. He also drove in three of the six runs for the Cardinals.
The pitching was tremendous thanks to Dominick Venta. Venta pitched all seven innings for Catonsville, notching his second win of the season. He allowed just three runs on five hits while striking out six batters.
Game 2
Game 2 lasted just five innings thanks to the Cardinals offense. They put up an astounding 19 runs and 18 hits in five innings, including 11 runs in the fourth inning. A.J perry and Joel Tapia Melo had monster games. Perry reached base four times, going 3-3 with two home runs and five RBIs. Tapia Melo also got on four times and drove in six runs including a grand slam in the fourth inning.
Clark Corlew and Bryson Prietz combined for five innings of work for the pitching staff. Corlew allowed three runs in three innings, while Prietz recorded two shutout innings and allowed just two baserunners. This was one of the best all-around performances of the season for Catonsville.
