Men's Basketball Falters at Roger Taylor Classic

The College of Southern Maryland men's basketball team dropped both of their games at the Roger Taylor Classic hosted by Louisburg College. CSM lost to Brunswick Community College 97-90 on November 9 and Louisburg College 99-98 on November 10.

CSM's record now sits at 1-4 after their first five games. They went 1-2 at the CCBC Dundalk Mixer to open the season, with their win coming over the ASA Brooklyn Avengers by a score of 98-95.

Sophomore Lelan Eackles had the most combined points for the Hawks over the two games at the Roger Taylor Classic, recording a double-double both days in the process. Eackles registered 51 points over the two contests - 24 against Brunswick and 27 against Louisburg. He was the leading rebounder for CSM each game as well, with 17 against Brunswick and 12 against Louisburg.

Eackles and sophomore Warrick Godwin have scored in double figures every game this season.

Godwin was the leading scorer for CSM in their game against Brunswick when he scored 26 points off of his 10-23 shooting from the floor, including going 4-13 from 3-point range. He added four steals, two rebounds, and an assist in his 37 minutes of game time.

Freshman Desha Curtis had 20 points and 10 assists over the two-day tournament at Louisburg College. He currently leads CSM in assists with 28 on the season so far.

The Hawks will wrap up their season-opening tournaments on the road with their trip to Montgomery College to play in the Montgomery College Tip-Off Classic. CSM will face Mercyhurst North East on November 16 and Cape Fear Community College on November 17.
