Hawks Come Up Short in Overtime to Hagerstown

The College of Southern Maryland men's basketball team lost 99-91 in overtime to Hagerstown Community College on January 22.

After going down 37-44 at halftime, CSM responded and outscored Hagerstown 45-38 in the second half to force overtime. Hagerstown controlled the extra period though, using a 9-1 run over the first three minutes to grab the lead they needed.

Freshman Desha Curtis recorded a season-high 19 points, leading CSM in scoring for the night. He went 8-18 from the floor, including going 2-7 from behind the 3-point line. He also had two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Sophomore Lelan Eackles added 14 points and seven rebounds, and sophomore Warrick Godwin scored 10 points, grabbed two rebounds, and made two steals.

Sophomore Amir Lawrence provided 12 points off the bench, shooting a perfect 5-5 from the floor and going 2-3 from the free-throw line.

With the loss, CSM fell to 9-9 overall and 2-4 in Maryland JUCO. Their next game is January 24 at Harford Community College at 7 p.m.
