Men's Basketball Snaps Losing Streak

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks men's basketball team put a stop to their six-game losing streak on February 19, beating the Allegany College of Maryland Trojans 91-86.

CSM had a commanding 56-37 lead at halftime, but Allegany nearly came all the way back in the second half to steal the win from the Hawks.

CSM held their largest lead of the game - 27 points - when the score was 76-49 with 12:12 remaining in the contest.

Allegany then scored 10 unanswered points over the next two and a half minutes. CSM put a stop to the bleeding with a field goal to put the score at 78-59. The Trojans kept charging back, going on a 25-8 run over more than eight minutes to bring the score to within two points at 86-84 with 38 seconds left in the game.

Allegany resorted to fouling the rest of the way, which let CSM escape with a much-needed win after converting on free throws.

Sophomore Lelan Eackles and freshman Devin Thomas finished the night with double-doubles. Eackles scored 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Thomas picked up his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Warrick Godwin had a team-high 19 points, shooting 8-18 from the floor and 3-8 from 3-point range. Freshman Armon Williams pitched in 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a steal off the bench. Freshman Desha Curtis had a productive night with 14 points, nine rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.
