The College of Southern Maryland Hawks men's basketball team's 2021-22 season came to an end on Tuesday, March 1 when they lost 85-71 to the Howard Community College Dragons in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region 20 Division II men's basketball tournament.
CSM was down 35-19 at halftime after shooting 8-35 from the floor and 2-13 from beyond the 3-point line. Howard also controlled the boards, grabbing 30 rebounds to CSM's 10.
The Hawks did not go down without a fight, however. They were able to stay in the game thanks to 12 steals and 14 Howard turnovers. CSM outscored the Dragons 52-50 in the second half.
Rasheed Cooley was the leading scorer for the Hawks, posting 20 points off 7-19 shooting. He also had four rebounds, four steals, three assists, and three blocks. Armon Williams had 15 points off the bench, going 6-13 from the field. E'Mari Johnson scored 14 points and led CSM in rebounds with seven.
CSM finished the season with a 13-15 overall record, going 6-9 in Region 20 and 4-6 in Region 20 Division II play.
