Bio

Alan Hoyt enters his tenth season as head coach of the College of Southern Maryland men’s basketball program. The Southern Maryland native is a 2000 graduate of Great Mills High School, whom he led to a SMAC championship that season. Hoyt went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at McDaniel College playing under Darrell Brooks and Jay Dull. During his time there, Hoyt was able to amass over 1000 points and learn under both respected coaches.

Before coming to CSM, Hoyt was an assistant coach at St. Mary’s College. There he worked with Chris Harney during his first season and helped build the foundation to a program that would make many NCAA tournament runs. Prior to that, Hoyt served as an assistant coach at King’s Christian Academy under Robert Lloyd.

In his tenure at the College of Southern Maryland, Coach Hoyt has led the Hawks to many successes. They played in back to back Regional Championship games in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, he led the Hawks into the National Rankings, getting as high as 13th in the country. Hoyt was voted Coach of the Year in 2012 after leading his team into the top 5 in the conference that season. Throughout his tenure he has had multiple players that have been voted All-Conference and All-Region. Hoyt has helped over 25 athletes continue their careers at four-year colleges and universities.

Alan and his wife, Chermere, reside in Leonardtown, Maryland. They have four children; Marissa, Trenton, Christian, and Madison.
